Empfohlene Voraussetzungen:

Es wird empfohlen, folgende Module zu absolvieren, bevor dieses Modul belegt wird:

Computergraphik-VU (WS 2021/2022)

Inhalt:

This seminar covers advanced topics in computer graphics and computer vision and includes both ground-breaking and recent research publications. Topics include inverse rendering, appearance, surface reflectance, and computer graphics in general.

The seminar offers the participants the chance to get an overview of many topics in computer graphics and at the same time to delve into a topic of their own choice. During the semester, participants are free to gain practical experience, e.g. by reimplementing, testing published code, or searching for similar or related implementations. This is not mandatory, but it is highly recommended to get a feel for whether the topic is interesting for future theses or career paths.

Assessment: Each seminar participant selects one of the publications presented in the first session and presents its content in a 30-minute talk during the semester (plus 10-minute Q&A session). Presentations will begin approximately 3-4 weeks after the start of the semester. The presentation will count for 70% of the final grade. Furthermore, a written paper on the selected publication will be submitted by the last seminar date, which will count for 30% of the grade. The presentation and the written paper can be written in German or English. There is no strict page limit for the written paper, although a length of 5-15 pages is usual. According to the template, the following aspects are to be considered: Introduction/motivation, scientific classification, methodology, results, discussion and summary. The presentations will be grouped thematically. Therefore, the presentation date cannot be freely chosen. In summary, the overall grade is composed of:

  • Lecture (70%)

  • Written elaboration (30%)

An essential part in the evaluation of the lecture is the subsequent discussion. In order to generate more questions, all participants are encouraged to read all publications prior to each presentation, write a summary, and think of at least one question. The summary and question can be submitted and graded. If 80% of the points are achieved in the course of the semester, the overall grade will be increased by 0.3 or 0.4 grade points. The submission of the summary and question will be in English and is optional.

Note: Attendance is mandatory for this seminar, with a maximum of three absences allowed. Exceptions will be made for medical reasons or other special occurrences, provided they have been agreed upon prior to the appointment.

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:
