Inhalt:

Hauptseminar: This module comprises a detailed comparison of standard reference grammars (such as the Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language and the Cambridge Grammar of the English Language) with existing teaching grammars and teaching materials used in school teaching. Topics to be discussed include: terminology, word classes, phrases and functional categories as well as tense and aspect. Übung: An in-depth discussion of selected grammar topics and their analysis in text-based exercises, with a focus on explanatory grammar in context.

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

The aim of this module is for students to develop a deeper understanding of various grammatical models, to become familiar with grammars of English and how to read them, work with corpora, to fully understand the problems that arise in the description of some important areas of English grammar and to recognize and consider demands of possible target audiences for applied linguistic products.

Bemerkung:

This module is offered every fourth semester (summer semester).
