Quellencodierung zur Datenreduktion: Quellencodierungstheorem, verschiedene verlustfreie
Kompressionsverfahren für diskrete Quellen nach Huffman, Tunstall und Lempel-Ziv, Entropie und
Codierung für gedächtnisbehaftete Quellen, Markovketten.
Kanalcodierung zur zuverlässigen Übertragung über gestörte Kanäle: Kanalmodelle, Kanalkapazität,
Kanalcodierungstheorem, Abschätzungen der Fehlerwahrscheinlichkeit, cut-off-Rate,
Gallager-Fehlerexponent.
