Contents
Differential geometry is the mathematical language that underpins many of the central concepts of the four theoretical physics courses (classical mechanics, electrodynamics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics) taken in one form or another by all students of physics.
Differential geometry affords a unified view of various important aspects of these subjects, which greatly enhances one’s understanding, but usually cannot be accommodated in the regular lecture courses.
In this seminar, participants will present a pedagogical sequence of talks that exhibit the essential foundations of differential geometry, as they are useful for the physicist.
Student talks will be based on short texts that are provided for each presentation. Emphasis will be placed on a refreshing alternation of theory and applications.
