THE-OGS - Overcoming Gender Stereotypes Through Education

The OGS seeks to promote equal opportunities between women and men by overcoming gender stereotypes through education. The main objectives of the project are to:· raise awareness of gender stereotypes’ action in education;· develop, experiment, and disseminate innovative psycho-pedagogical methods and techniques which will help all the actors of education (teachers, educators, parents) contribute to overcome gender stereotyped education.The project is designed to last eighteen months.To reach its goal, the partnership, composed by partners representing all the actors of education, intends to:· design and carrying on a workshop aimed to analise the state of the art in the partner countries, to study relevant cases, to investigate the inner causes of gender stereotypes, to design psycho-pedagogical activities able to overcome them (eight months);· assess the efficiency of the designed activities through experimentation of learning pathways and awareness raising activities for teachers, educators, and parents (four months);· disseminate the project’s outputs through a website, a publication, and a dissemination meeting (six months).The partnership will be targeting primary- and secondary-school teachers, educators, parents, psychologists, pedagogists and others education workers.The outputs will be an Internet web site with innovative psycho-pedagogical resources, a discussion forum, a newsletter on education gender themes with selected case studies and a publication of the project’s experiences.The expected results are: to promote a European egualitarian education focussed on individuals’ development free from gender stereotypes, to let education play a key note in the promotion of equal opportunities.
