- Inhalt
- In this seminar, we will try to analyse in which way contemporary English literature reflects predominant themes, philosophies, theories, scientific notions, moral problems and religious issues of the 21st century. Since the seminar intends to widen the scope of those questions discussed in the lecture "Ian McEwan", we will choose McEwan's concept of 'consilience' as a starting point. We will read and interpret texts from the literary work of Julian Barnes, Kazuo Ishiguro, Jeanette Winterson, Nick Hornby, and Graham Swift.
