- Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all winter term classes will be taught online.
Das Seminar gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:
BA English and American Studies: Zwischenmodul II Literature (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Zwischenmodul I: Thematisches Kombinationsmodul) Lehramt Englisch an Gymnasien: Zwischenmodul L-GYM Literature (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Basismodul Literature)
- Inhalt
- The course is very simple. We take a handful of tragedies from about 1590 to 1610 -- some by Shakespeare, some by other writers -- and analyse their plots by means of a very few simple structural axioms. The theoretical starting-point is Aristotle's Poetics, though we very soon develop his ideas into a set which can be applied more usefully to the plays in question. So there is not much reading to do -- but a lot of THINKING.
