- Inhalt
- AI is still on the rise, be that in the form of smart homes, armed drones, autonomous vehicles or various algorithmic recommendation and control system populating the online world. While AI is also often enough abused as a marketing buzzword, these systems are still real and influence our lives, both when the stakes are high and as a kind of background to everyday life. As a result, the moral significance of the design, utilization and control of AI systems has been increasing as well, and an ethics of AI is needed to systematically deal with the moral problems surrounding AI.
The purpose of this seminar to offer a basic introduction to ethical theory and apply it to various moral issues surrounding the engineering of AI systems, ranging from the very narrow of the role of ethics in the design of classification algorithms to the wider issues society faces as a consequence of the spread of AI technology. The sminar will shift between the perspective of engineers and system designers, private and public users of AI and citizens or simply human beings subject to AI decisions and behavior.

The course does not require prior knowledge in ethics or detailed knowledge of AI technology.
