• Challenges of the modern FEM
  

• Introduction into the XFEM
  

• Introduction into the IGA-FEM
  

• Introduction into the parametric FEM
  

• Reduced order modeling as the necessary tool in the parametric FEM
  

• Overview of other recently developed techniques and approaches

Lernziele und Kompetenzen:

The students

• are familiar with the modern state of the art

• are familiar with the nonlinear FEM and FEM solvers

• are able to choose and apply suitable modern methods for solving problems

• are able to work with a level-set function and choose enrichment strategy

• are able to program B-splines and NURBS

• are able to apply order reduction for parametric problems
