2. Characterization of Nanomaterials: Short introduction into vacuum science, scanning probe microscopy (STM/AFM), electron spectroscopy and diffraction (LEED, XPS, XAS, NEXAFS, X-Ray Standing waves)
3. Nanofabrication: Top-down/Bottom-up, adsorption/desorption/diffusion on surfaces, self-assembly, interaction forces
4. Molecular Materials: Chirality, symmetrie, electronic structure: From single molecules to molecular solids, vibrational structure, molecular Switches, molecular motors/machines, molecular manipulation
5. Molecular electronics: Mechanisms of electron transport; Electronic devices made of single molecules: Molecular Wires, Molecular Switches, Molecular Diodes, Molecular Transistors; Functional devices: OLEDs
