- Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
- Nur für Teilnehmer am Forschungsstudiengang
- Inhalt
Kerne: Aufbau, Masse, Bindungsenergie
Kernmodelle
Kernzerfall und -spaltung, Kernkraftwerke
Streuprozesse, Rutherford-Streunng, Formfaktoren
Elektron-Nukleon-Streuung (elastisch, Resonanzanregung, tiefinelastisch)
Elementare Fermionen, Dirac-Gleichung
Wechselwirkungen, Feynmangraphen und -regeln, lokale Eichinvarianz
Elektromagnetische Wechselwirkung in Experimenten
Starke Wechselwirkung, QCD, laufende Kopplungskonstante, Confinement, Asymptotic freedom, Experimente zu starken WW, Hadron-Multipletts
Schwache Wechselwirkung, Paritätsverletzung, Quark-Mischung und CKM-Matrix, CP-Verletzung, pi- und µ-Zerfall, e+e- Streuung auf Z-Resonanz
Neutrinophysik
Standardmodell: Elektroschwache Vereinigung und Higgs-Mechanismus
- ECTS-Informationen:
- Title:
- Integrated course 3: Quantum field theory, nuclear and particle physics
- Credits: 16
- Prerequisites
- Participation restricted to members of the physics advanced study course
- Contents
- The integrated course 3 usually comprises a theory lecture on quantum field
theory and a lecture on expermental nuclear and particle physics. Due to the small number of participants, the theory lecture will, as an exception to the rule, be replaced by the module Quantum Field Theory II by Prof. Kristina Giesel and will not be further described here.
The lecture on nuclear and particle physics covers:
Nuclei: Composition, mass, binding energy
Nuclear models
Nuclear decay, nuclear fission, nuclear power plants
Scattering processes, Rutherfdors scattering, form factors
Electron-nucleon scattering (elastic, resonance regime, deep-inelastic)
Elementary fermions, Dirac equation
Interactions, Feynman graphs and rules, local gauge invariance
Electromagnetic intreraction in particle experiments
Strong interaction, QCD, running coupling constant, confinement, asymptotic freedom, experimental investigation of strong interactions, hadron multiplets
Weak interactions, parity violation, quark mmixing and CKM matrix, CP violation, pi and µ decay, e+e- scattering on the Z resonance
Neutrino physics
The Standard Model: Electroweak unification and Higgs mechanism
Please note: On Tuesday and Thursdays, there will in general be 120 minutes of lecture. No lectures will be held on: 16.05, 18.05, 25.05 (holiday), 06.06 (lecture-free), 13.06, 15.06 (holiday), and 11.-20.07. The slot on Friday is reserved for additional courses to be scheduled in agreement with the participants.
