- Objective:
This course imparts knowledge on simulating acoustic waves and rays using computers, and presents the state-of-the-art in virtual acoustics.Course contents:
Introduction to virtual acoustics (objectives, state of the art, requirements)
Foundations of acoustics (history of acoustics, physical and acoustical phenomena)
Acoustic wave theory (sources, propagation, receivers)
Room acoustics (modal and diffuse regions, reverberation, statistical methods)
Computational modelling (wave-based methods, geometrical methods)
Audio signal processing (convolution, Fourier transform, auralization)
Human auditory perception (binaural hearing, spatial localization, HRTFs)
Sound reproduction (binaural technology, spatial reproduction techniques)
Real-time audio programming (system design, latencies, programming concepts)
