Inhalt:

The class covers social and technological aspects of innovation technologies. As a future core technology, the semantic web will serve as a basis for linking different types of technologies across the boundaries of socio-technical systems. The lecture will thus explore social, organizational theory and technical concepts around a semantic web as an innovation technology. Social and organizational theory will amongst others contain:

• Systems theory, semiotics and communication theory,

• Basics of open innovation, open research, interactive value creation and open evaluation,

• Legal and societal aspects,

• Aspects regarding organizational knowledge creation (e.g. sensemaking, practicing, frames of reference)

The technological aspect of the class will deal with:

• Theory, Infrastructure and underlying technologies of the world wide web from web 1.0 to web 3.0

• Web scripting and markup languages and associated design theory (e.g.: PHP, JavaScript, XHTML, XML, OWL, RDF, RDFa, CSS)

• Thematic problems within publishing, filtering & selection and quality control

Inhalt:

Creating a sustainable innovative environment is a leadership task. In order to succeed at this task, leaders must develop innovative abilities to deal with the challenges inherent in a business environment characterized by fluid, unstructured and changing information. The aim of this course is to get an overview of how to structure leadership systems towards innovation, how leaders can motivate to foster innovative thinking and what new forms of innovation (e.g. open innovation) mean for the definition of leadership.

Inhalt:

Im Fokus der Veranstaltung steht das Konzept der interaktiven Wertschöpfung und die Rolle von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (IuK) und ihren verschiedenen Ausprägungsformen im Unternehmensumfeld.
Nach der interaktiven Wertschöpfungwerden Wertschöpfungsaktivitäten nicht ausschließlich von einem dominierenden Unternehmen autonom durchgeführt, sondern externe Akteure aktiv in den Wertschöpfungsprozess eingebunden. Der Kurs vermittelt die grundlegenden Prinzipien der interaktiven Wertschöpfung und erläutert detailliert die in diesem Kontext relevanten Ansätze der „Open Innovation“ und der „Mass Customization“.
Zudem werden im Rahmen der Vorlesung Themenfelder rund um die mit fortschreitender Digitalisierung einherhehenden Innovationspotentiale im Sinne der Entwicklung neuartiger Dienstleistungssysteme adressiert. Diese Fokusfelder werden durch Exkurse aus den Bereichen Social Physics, Industrial Data Clouds und Living Labs abgerundet.
Die Studierenden erwerben fundierte Kenntnisse über aktuelles theoretisches und praktisches Wissen zu zugrundeliegenden Zusammenhängen und Wirkweisen, resultierenden strategischen Ansätzen sowie operativen Umsetzungen der verschiedenen Formen der interaktiven Wertschöpfung, Grundlagen der virtuellen Unternehmensführung, können die strategische und operative Gestaltung von verteilten Arbeits-, Organisations- und Kooperationsformen nachvollziehen bzw. beurteilen und kennen konzeptionelle Grundlagen und reale Umsetzungen interaktiver Wertschöpfungssysteme.

Inhalt:

Intellectual Properties (IPs) in general and especially patents play an important role in innovation in any Hightech society. This topic is multi-faceted and can be accessed from different viewpoints: business, politics, legal framework, organization, etc. In this course, we will focus on:

• the introduction to IPs and patents in general,

• the role of IPs and patents in research, development and (open) innovation,

• the patent exploitation through licensing contracts and patent pools,

• the patent policies in the European Union, China and USA.

Learning objectives and skills
The students:
• learn to understand the role of patenting in the innovation process,
• gain deeper insights into the roles of IP in various types of businesses,
• study the differences of IP and patents in different regions and contexts (Asia, United States, Europe).

Inhalt:

Der Kurs richtet sich an Doktoranden, die Interesse an qualitativer Forschung haben. Im Rahmen dieses Kurses soll die methodische Vorgehensweise zum jeweiligen Forschungsvorhaben der Studenten erarbeitet werden. Zuerst wird das grundlegende „Handwerkszeug“ für Forscher vermittelt. Dann wird die Vorgehensweise zur Definition von Forschungsfragen und Forschungsthema erörtert: Welchen Beitrag zu welcher Forschungsgemeinschaft möchte der Doktorand leisten? Einen wesentlichen Bestandteil dieses Kurses stellt die Vermittlung von Kenntnissen zur Konzeptualisierung und zur Erstellung des Forschungsdesigns dar. Im Rahmen des Kurses wird die grundlegende Vorgehensweise in der qualitativen Sozialforschung vermittelt. In diesem Zusammenhang findet auch eine Abgrenzung zu der quantitativen Forschungsmethodik statt.
