Radiation Therapy planning with CT and MR
Contents and learnings:
This seminar course deals with advanced techniques and new clinical applications for medical imaging devices, in particular MR, CT and PET. Contents include high-speed and motion insensitive MRI, quiet MRI, quantitative MRI and CT, sub-second CT, new indication for PET-CT and PET-MRI, iterative reconstruction methods in CT and MRI as well as new clinical applications in imaging. Each participant is encouraged to contribute a short scientific presentation of a topic of his/her choice fitting into the agenda of this course. Your learnings include state-of-the-art imaging techniques seen from a clinical, economical and scientific perspective. The course should enable you to present and discuss technological and scientific content, linking technologies to medical and clinical needs.

- Please note that this course should not be attended just for accumulating credits. An active participation and a serious interest in developing interdisciplinary competence and the ability to learn and implement prototypes and models independently is expected. The course is offered in block sessions: theory, feedback session (also including theoretical elements)and a final presentation.

- Content: 1. Theory: Interdisciplinary Innovations in Medical Engineering - What is an invention and what steps are needed to make it an innovation with focus on medical engineering? Real life examples, communication techniques for selling an idea, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship:
Challenges and opportunities 2.Group brainstorming sessions on working on real life challenges from medical engineering especially on topics from 1.
3. Rapid Prototyping workshop on selected examples and best practices
4.Group project and presentation
Compentence achievements: The main objective of the program is to develop out-of-the-box thinking for solving the most simple to the most complex real life problems in medical engineering. Interdisciplinary collaboration is needed in areas where complementary competences are necessary for not only implementation but also for conception. The program provides students and professionals a possibility to make use of the existing knowledge and resources for identifying and solving the problems in the medical engineering area.
